This report summarises the consenting requirements and processes for marine renewable energy projects from a developer’s perspective, starting with the UK and presenting the requirements and process for the Shetland Tidal Array. The report goes on to consider the consenting requirements and processes for European countries with viable tidal resources and includes the USA and Canada as examples of consenting regimes outside of Europe.
