Belgian partners ELSA played host to the third meeting of the EnFAIT consortium in Tournai on 31 January 2018, at which overall progress of the project was reviewed. The concept design from October 2017 is progressing well towards finalising the design in preparation for the Detailed Design Review later in Spring 2018. The key focus is to positively move forward with the design activities whilst continuing to operate and maintain the existing array of tidal turbines. Turbines T1 and T2 have had upgrades implemented, as defined in the Upgrades Design Review in November 2017 and are back in Shetland with T1 deployed and T2 ready for deployment in February. T3 has been retrieved, ready to be stripped for forensic analysis and have its upgrades implemented.
